In my opinion, staying busy is a good thing—it means you’re accomplishing things and staying active. Years ago, when I first started making these pizza bagels, I was stretching myself thin juggling work, preparing my Kylee’s Kitchen TV segments, and taking evening chemistry and anatomy classes. By the time I walked through my door at the end of the day, I was starving and wanted to eat immediately without waiting an hour to cook.
Fast-forward to today, and while my days look a little different with kids and family life, that need for quick, easy meals hasn’t changed one bit. Whether you’re cooking for one after a long shift, feeding hungry kids after school, or surviving busy weeknights, keeping your freezer stocked with homemade meals is one of the best changes you can make. You spend less on takeout, eat healthier, and save so much time.
I’m sure you all know what frozen pizza bagel bites are, but I promise you these homemade pizza bagels put those freezer-aisle boxes to shame!

Have the Bagels Your Way
Pizza bagels are really a non-recipe recipe. You can add whatever ingredients you want to your favorite bagel, but regardless, I’ve provided four of my favorite ideas.
My Pre-Prepared Four Options:
- Classic Pepperoni: Top each bagel half with pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, mini pepperoni slices, a sprinkle of Parmesan, and dried oregano.
- Fresh Margherita: Spread each bagel half with basil pesto, then top with sliced mozzarella, fresh sliced tomatoes, and torn fresh basil.
- Savory Sausage: Spread with pizza sauce, cooked crumbled Italian sausage, mozzarella cheese, and a pinch of fresh basil.
- Creamy Four Cheese: Spread each half with basil pesto, add small dollops of cream cheese, and top with mozzarella, white cheddar, and grated Parmesan.
Custom Dietary Swaps
- Families managing allergies: Easily swap in gluten-free bagels or dairy-free mozzarella so everyone gets their own customized personal pizza.
- Healthier Eating Options: Consider low carb/low calorie bagels, low sodium pizza sauce, or low fat cheese.
Easy Meal Prep
Meal Prep Large Batches
Personally, I recommend assembling an abundance of pizza bagels at once then only bake the ones you’re going to eat that night and freeze the rest for later.
Freeze Them Ahead of Time
The best way to freeze these pizza bagels is to individually wrap them (before or after cooking them) in Saran wrap and then put them all in a gallon freezer bag. When you’re ready to eat one, just pull it out of the freezer and bake as normal. If you put the bagel in the freezer already baked, you can just pop it in the microwave.
